artPLAY: Thank you for artPLAYING with us, you are a new, fresh Parisian brand, supporting genderfluidity and the freedom of choice. Talk to us more about the genderfluidity aspect and about your innovative approach among Parisian brands.

vesqmojo: The different social groups and the changes they go through are very important to us; we always wanted to work on gender diversity via our fashions. In a way, we are looking for the freedom of wearing clothing where the dress no longer has a code. We think that fashion in Paris does represents this concept, but many brands, the bigger once in general, still globally follow the gender codes. We find interesting the hybridity of the garment according to the silhouette wearing it.

Most designers today usually work in a “unisex” way or present their collection in a that way. Our impression is that the classification of men/womenswear is more used to classify the style of the designer tailoring, dresseS as well as the rhythm of the collections.

We support all movements related to human rights (lgbt, black lives matter…) but without making it our main communication feature. It is an integral part of our lives, so it’s logical that it is also a part of our project and our creations. We feel like we don’t need to spread out on the subject because it’s in our lifestyle, it just makes sense.

In terms of gender, it’s the official calendar that needs to evolve more than the creators.

artPLAY: New collection Digital Emergency has elements of the new generation of digital, rave cultures and echoes of the punks and rebelles from the past, talk to us more about the aesthetics and the ideas behind your latest collection.

vesqmojo:  The identity of vesqmojo is the digital racing universe, it is a mix of retro/analogue with a digital and futuristic aesthetic. We draw our references in different environments/niches, our hybridity arises directly from us, whether it is our way of dressing between the vintage 2nd hand and designer pieces, or going from a queer techno party to a rap mosh pit. We think it’s generational, that hybridity in all areas in our lifestyles. I can’t really explain this but I think it’s cool to mix a lot of styles, and have different inspirations.

The whole project vesqmojo is to immerse you in a specific universe through all possible mediums, such as photos, videos, textile and events. We would almost like our universe to be recognized and used as an adjective.

2020 is a year that marks a turning point in the history of out brand. The collection was created around the general state of emergency of our contemporary world: digital/digital surplus, ecology, human rights in general or belonging to a niche and + covid now. Also being aware of the ecological impact that fashion represents, we tried to work as much as possible with materials from upcycling, or directly reuse our own unfinished or unsold pieces to create new garments. This approach focuses on ecology but also on creativity creating ultra limited and unique pieces.

Finally, I would not say that we are perfect in every way in our creative process but the goal is to get closer to it a little more each time.

This is a technical collection via materials/cuts/use with contrasting design between white and neon colors. The print is very important for conveying an image of this digital racing universe. So mixing it all up we found that the name DIGITAL EMERGENCY, it makes sense.
